Q: Hi Dave,
First of all, I want to thank you for writing "The Chile Pepper Encyclopedia." I loved it. I have used it for reference several times. Whether for a recipe, or for some of the folklore stories, or just to prove a point. Anyway, the reason that I am writing is that a friend of mine has been trying to locate a recipe on making Sport Peppers. He is from the Midwest. (Chicago, IL) He can buy them anywhere, there’s no problem there. They are in just about every grocery store in the Chicago land area. Problem is that he hasn’t been able to find anything about them, except that they are good on hot dogs.
Thanks Dave, Keep writing those books!

Thanks for your kind words. Sport peppers are pickled. No one knows why they are so popular in the Midwest. If you can find them fresh, use the recipe at this link to pickle them.
