Q:  Hi Dave,

While traveling in the Bahamas, we left the tourist areas and ate/shopped in local markets and restaurants.  We discovered goat peppers and loved them.  Can’t find them in the States, of course, but I also can’t find any seed to purchase so that I can grow them.  Are they also known under another name? Do you have any ideas where I might buy some seeds?

A:  Hello Suze:

Goat peppers are a land race of Capsicum chinense that grows in the Bahamas.  They are cousins to the habanero and Scotch bonnets.  Cross Country Nurseries carries ’Billy Goat’, which may or may not be the same as ’Goat Pepper’, but pretty close as it’s a chinense.  See www.chileplants.com and search for "Goat."
